IMPORTANT SAFETY GUIDELINES

Take a few minutes to read our safety guidelines to ensure burning your candles are safely enjoyed in your home.

Don't leave me unattended

Never leave a burning candle unattended, leaving a candle burning in your home unattended is a potential fire hazard. Keep your lit candle out of draughts and away from flammable material eg. paper, curtains.

Remove my dust cover protector

Each candle comes with a decorative paper dust cover that details fragrance name and notes. Please ensure you remove this completely before lighting your candle, it is designed to keep your wax surface dust-free when your candle is not in use only.

Keep out of reach of kids & pets

Extra care is required when lighting candles around young children and pets. Keep burning candles at a height where children and pets are not able to reach them.

Burn me on a safe surface

Ensure your burning candle sits on a safe, heatproof surface. Your surface should also be a stable, flat level to avoid your candle from falling over. Never burn a candle on or near anything that may catch fire.

Don't burn me for too long

Do not burn candles for more than 3 hours at a time. Burning candles for longer than recommended can overheat candle jars with a risk of thermal shock where the candle jar can crack. It is important you only burn candles for the recommended time and on heat safe surfaces.

Careful I can get hot to handle

Candle jars can become hot after burning candles, avoid picking them up and moving them until they have been extinguished and cooled down completely. Please handle carefully and keep away from children and pets.

Beware of thermal shock

Monitor your candle and discontinue use immediately once your wax level is at 1cm. It is important to stop using your candle jar at this point since breakage may occur when wax levels are very low. Do not continue to use your candle if the glass or ceramic cracks or breaks.

Keep a safe distance

If you enjoy burning two or three candles at a time, ensure they are spaced out to avoid them catching alight. Always leave at least 20cm of space between burning candles. As mentioned above, keep candles away from any flammable materials.

GETTING STARTED & BURN DOWN

Make the most of your new candle by understanding how best to burn your candle from the first light.

Melt down the first burn

Take a moment to read these tips to ensure burning your candle for the first time goes smoothly and this will mean your candle lasts longer and burns cleaner. For your first burn, allow your candle to burn until the wax melts to the edges, this allows the wax to burn evenly the next time you light it.

Keep me even & trimmed

Next time you light your candle, your wax should be sitting at an even layer and it's best to now trim your wick to approx. 6mm to reduce excess smoke or flame upon lighting. It's best to trim your wick before you re-light your candle to ensure a clean burn.

Light me & watch me glow

Enjoy the glow your new candle brings and follow the safety guidelines by lighting your candle on a safe and level surface. It is recommended you put your candle out with a snuffer to avoid excessive smoke, avoid blowing out candles, pouring water on your candle or using lids/covers to extinguish your candle.

Cool me down before picking me up

While your candle is burning the candle jar may become hot, don't move or pick up the hot candle allow it to cool after use before moving your candle.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Learn useful tips and tricks to maximise your candle's burn time and includes your most frequently asked questions.

Wax burning down evenly

To ensure your wax burns down evenly, follow the above guidelines regarding your first time burn. It is important to burn your candle down to an even level the first time to avoid your wax burning to one side.

Reducing the smoke smell

Keep your wick trimmed down to approx. 6mm to reduce any unwanted smoke smells as lighting an untrimmed wick can created excess smoke. Our candles are made from a quality soy blend wax which ensures a clean burn if wicks are maintained correctly.

My candle jar is creating a black shadow

If you begin to notice your candle jar creating a black shadow on the inside of your glass or ceramic jar, extinguish your candle and allow to cool before wiping with a clean paper towel. Next time you burn your candle, ensure your wick is trimmed and sitting straight up.

Burn times can vary with each candle

Depending on the size of your candle jar, maintenance and environmental conditions burn times will vary as well as how long the candle will last. Ensure you maintain your candle to maximise your burn time.

Repurpose your candle jar

Once you've enjoyed burning your candle to the base of the jar, you can repurpose your jar by soaking residue wax in warm water then wiping down with a paper towel. Clean, empty jars can be used to store cosmetics, pens or even to make and cure new candles.
